We have enjoyed celebrating our amazing 45 seniors this year! We have several students going into music from this class and are so excited for all of them! Congratulations to Josh Kinoshita for receiving the National School Orchestra Award! Michael Collier, Zoe Nixon, and Josh Kinoshita received the Bobby Moody Scholarship this year to further their musical journeys in college! Congratulations to all out graduates! Roswell Orchestra will miss you!
We hope everyone had a fantastic Winter Holiday break, and is ready for a wonderful spring semester! We have a lot to prepare for this semester - hosting LGPE at Roswell, our Disney trip, and our seniors' final hurrah, just to name a few! Look for upcoming emails with information about how you can be involved, upcoming spirit nights, and more. As we start the semester in remote learning mode, it's important to keep up with your personal practice time. Also, consider a COVID test if you've been traveling, have symptoms, or know you've been exposed to someone with COVID. We look forward to seeing everyone in person next week!
Hopefully you were able to join us for the Fall Concert and see what incredible progress these student musicians have already made this year. But if you missed it, or if you loved it so much you can't wait to hear it again, enjoy the video! And feel free to share with family and friends - we're so proud of these students!
Our students are hard at work getting ready for Fall Concert, taking place September 30, 7pm, at Roswell High School Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public, and masks are required. Take a look at these students getting ready! It wasn't just the North Georgia Honor Orchestra this weekend - we had a Senior Trio perform at the Roswell Arts Festival, and one of our talented quartets recently provided music at Cross of Life Lutheran Church. These young musicians did a lovely job of supporting their community, and we're always looking out for student performance opportunities.
Four of our students participated in the North Georgia Honor Orchestra at Kennesaw State University Bailey School of Music last night, and it was thrilling! Check out the pictures below. After so many months of social distancing and online engagement, seeing an orchestra of this magnitude and this level of musicianship was truly incredible!
Roswell High School Orchestra has so many seniors this year, and we're so excited to share this this year with all of them! We have plans for an incredible year, and we couldn't do it without these amazing seniors setting a great example for their younger peers. A big shout-out to all of our musicians in the class of 2022! The first 2021-2022 parent meeting was a success! Thank you to everyone who attended! If you were unable to join us for the meeting, don't worry - an email is coming soon with all the details you'll need for a great year in orchestra.
We have a full year ahead of us with lots of opportunities for parents to volunteer. In order to gain approval to volunteer in the school system, Fulton County requires each adult to go through a registration process. You can find and complete that process here, and your registration as a volunteer is active for two years. After you register, please reach out to our Booster Club volunteer coordinator, Rachel Wilson, to let her know you're official! Rachel can be reached at rachelw65 (at) gmail.com. I am so excited to welcome all the students back tomorrow at RHS! This will be my 25th year of teaching (9 years at CMS/RNES and 16 years at RHS!) We have SO many exciting events happening this year. We will be hosting LGPE in February for District V GMEA, the Chamber Orchestra was accepted to perform at the ASTA (American String Teachers Association) National Orchestra Festival in Atlanta, and we were invited to perform for Disney's 50th Anniversary in March of 2022. We have an amazing class of seniors graduating and lots to celebrate this year. I am looking forward to all of it!
I have sent the performance schedule for the year via email. It can also be found on the events page on this website. Please add dates to your calendars as soon as possible. School instrument rentals are open to 9th graders first, and then other families. The process is payment through OSP on the RHS website. This is currently up and running. Once the rental fee is completed I will fill out the rental form for the instrument. All violins and violas should bring a lock (no key locks please) to lock up their individual instrument in the new lockers the county installed this summer! I look forward to a wonderful year!
